JX4A - Jan Mayen (Now Bootleg)

Very active on 20/40m RTTY today (March 24).
-
QSL via LA4XEA
Unclear yet whether JX4 callsign is valid.

** further info has come to light via the DX cluster.
LA4RT says he phoned the holder of the callsign, LA4A.
LA4A is a club station callsign inwhich the chairman has no knowledge of any activity on Jan Mayen.
Another bootleg bites the dust.
JX4A call would belong to LA4A, the ham club in Arendal on the south coast of Norway. It only has 92 lookups on qrz.com, so it doesn’t seem to be very active. The announced QSL manager lives at the other end of Norway and has 114 lookups. Finally, nothing was announced in advance. A legitimate club operation probably would have been. All in all this smells very bad.
The way LA/JW/JX/3Y calls work is that I would become JX4RT the moment I set foot on Jan Mayen.
The call JX4A belongs to the Arendal section of the Norwegian Radio Relay League. I just spoke with LA9SGA, the chairman of the Arendal section, and he has no knowledge of any club activity from Jan Mayen.
Tnx fer QSO 73 lev
